We hope that spring has sprung in your city! The first quarter of 2012 was a busy one for GIIRS. We recently launched the GIIRS Quarterly Analytics Report, the first impact investing industry report to provide comprehensive and verified data on social and environmental impact across a broad range of investments on a global scale. This report provides a quarterly snapshot of key findings and trends in data collected from GIIRS rated companies and funds, covering sector, size and geography.


We also announced our final group of Pioneer Funds and two new Pioneer Investors. You can view the details here.

Additionally, GIIRS has launched the private beta for GIIRS Analytics with Pioneer Funds and Investors. Read more below.

GIIRS Analytics Private Launch with Pioneer Investors and Pioneer Funds

 

GIIRS recently launched a private beta for GIIRS Analytics, a Capital IQ-equivalent product for impact data. GIIRS Analytics will be available through a data subscription service focused on social and enviromental performance information and ratings for
investors.
 
GIIRS Analytics provides investors, investment advisors, and fund managers the ability to:
  • Analyze investor portfolio impact in any way you choose, benchmark data against the GIIRS rated universe or specialized peer group, and produce customized reporting for internal or external use;
  • Search for companies and funds that meet your investing preferences;
  • Conduct efficient due diligence with GIIRS ratings, social and environmental performance data, and key performance indicators; and
  • Identify market trends via aggregated social and environmental performance data for all companies and funds in the GIIRS rated universe.

 

GIIRS Analytics launch timeline:

March-September 2012: Private Launch/Beta Feedback with phased functionality roll-out

October 2012: Public Demos/Feedback

2013: Commercial Launch

Impact Investing in Action

Impact Investing in Action is a joint venture between Village Capital and Agora Partnerships – two global, non-profit organizations working to facilitate early-stage impact investing by selecting high-growth, early-stage entrepreneurs for incubation and connecting them to investors. The conference is a global marketplace designed to showcase 25 exceptional entrepreneurs from Central America, Mexico, and Atlanta who are using their businesses to solve pressing social, economic, and environmental problems.

 

The Five Fund Forum

An invitation-only event that showcases five funds to family offices, foundations, investment advisors, and other investors who are deploying capital in the sustainable investment sector. It is an opportunity to gain exclusive access to leading LPs with an active mandate to invest in clean tech and sustainable sectors. In May, Watershed Capital will be hosting its 9th Five Fund Forum.

 

The Argidius-ANDE Finance Challenge

ANDE and the Argidius Foundation recently announced an opportunity for organizations to help unlock financing for small and growing businesses (SGBs) in emerging markets. The Challenge seeks innovative financial solutions for firms requiring 15,000-200,000 euros (20,000-250,000 USD) in start-up capital. Four to six finalists will be awarded grants of approximately 200,000-300,000 euros to conduct 12-18 month pilot programs, during which ANDE will provide ongoing guidance. IRIS-FIELD Partnership

In February, the Impact Reporting and Investment Standards (IRIS) and FIELD at the Aspen Institute announced a Partnership that enables data from more than 800 U.S. microenterprise organizations to be shared with the IRIS initiative. IRIS will use the data alongside data from GIIRS and other data contributors in cross-sector analyses of the impact investing industry.
